Bombardier Announce Hundreds of New Jobs to go Ahead for Derby Factory
Manufacturer’s Bombardier are looking to recruit hundreds more staff to work at its factory in Derby.
The firm announced it planned to take on 400 extra staff towards the end of last year, but their search was suspended in March due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Following a short three-week halt in production, they implemented a number of measures and are now back at full strength and are looking to ramp up production on some major contracts during the second half of the year.
During the lockdown, the firm added an extra 100 staff to its ranks, a further 100 new recruits will join the firm this month and a similar number is set to join in August.
The factory already employs over 2,500 people, bringing significant value to the local region.
In Derby, 45,000 people are employed in engineering and manufacturing functions, the highest in the East Midlands.
The city is also home to internationally renowned companies such as Rolls Royce, JCB and Toyota meaning opportunities for employment throughout Derby are vast.
