Derby Adds to Broad Selection of Eateries with New Open-Air Food Court

An open-air food court is set to open in Derby to boost the local hospitality sector as it continues to recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Work will begin this week on building the 330-person capacity space on the city’s Market Place.

The al-fresco venue will be built with social distancing guidelines in mind and will feature bookable chalets, outdoor tables, and a performance area.

The food court will have a licensed bar and people will have the option to consume food they have purchased from city outlets, or order online from the venue and have it delivered to their tables.

It is hoped the planned venue can help businesses who have struggled to reopen due to issues with implementing social distancing.

The food court will add to the broad selection of food markets and eateries the City has to offer.

Derby boasts restaurants serving over 27 different national cuisines from around the world and as well as a variety of cocktail bars.

Bustler Market, notably, hosts several monthly street food events adjacent to the River Garden, bringing vibrancy to the banks of the river Derwent.

intu Shopping Centre, which is only a one-minute walk from Wavensmere Homes’ new development The Nightingale Quarter, is home to a food court offering a range of dining experiences from some of Britain’s favourite names.
